A Circuit for the Study of the Operation of the Geiger-Müller Counter

The vacuum tube circuit described in this paper was designed in order to measure the effective dead-time (σ′) of a Geiger-Müller counter and, the probability (α′) of occurrence of spurious discharges within a given interval of time (ζ—σ′) after an initial discharge. The experimental results obtained permit, by means of an adequate formula [M. A. Guimarães, Thesis for Doctor's degree, to be published], the determination of (α′) and, in some cases, (σ′).
