Abstract For the investigation of the non-stationary state of chemical reactions and in particular polymerizations it is necessary to develop very sensitive means of recording small amounts of chemical change in short periods of time. For this purpose the change of dielectric constant accompanying reaction has been used. A recording capacity bridge working at 50 to 60 Mc./sec. has been constructed with a sensitivity of 1 part in 108 in capacity and a time resolution of 10-3 sec. This high sensitivity is achieved by the use of a new type of circuit incorporating a signal generator of special design; the capacity element in this bridge consists of the liquid reaction system enclosed in a silica cell.
