The key to widespread data encryption

The use of encryption is expanding rapidly as large organizations attempt to secure data across their extended enterprises. Network Computing predicted that data protection would be the number one priority for CIOs during 2006, with high profile incidences of data theft and growing regulatory pressures forcing businesses to protect the integrity, privacy and security of critical information. Any company that fails to meet industry privacy and governance regulations such as Sarbanes Oxley, HIPAA, Gramm Leach Bliley or PCI (Payment Card Industry) faces fines, loss of customer and shareholder confidence and even criminal prosecution.
