Teaching Introductory Programming in Modula‐2

Due to its facility for independent compilation, Modula‐2 allows a top‐down approach to teaching programming, in contrast to the traditional bottom‐up approach used with Pascal. In this article, an experiment in teaching a first‐year computer science course using a top‐down approach is reported.
