A Proportional Reset Furnace Controller for Temperatures up to 1600 C

A controller is described which will regulate the temperature of an electric furnace within ±¼° C. up to 1600° C. The control element is a resistance thermometer which may, if desired, be the heating element. Provided the resistance of this control element is unaffected by long periods at high temperature, the system is free from drift. The controller is of the proportional reset type and the electronic unit, which is substantially unaffected by supply frequency and voltage variations, is described in detail.
