Methodology and environment relationships

A. Marmor-Squires, Jack C. Wileden · ACM SIGAda Ada Letters · 1985

The charter of Working Group 4 was to articulate the roles, relationships and interactions between software engineering methodologies and programming support environments, especially as they relate to the software development process. In section 2 we develop a taxonomy of methodology which we found to be a useful framework for our discussions. In section 3 we present several observations about the state-of-the-art of methodologies and implications for environments of supporting one methodology vs. multiple methodologies. In section 4 we present a list of research directions that should be pursued.
