New “Informatics” Index Term Category

A new category has been added to the AGU index terms to allow indexing of items related to areas such as data management and analysis, large‐scale computational experimentation and modeling, and hardware and software infrastructure. Topics included in the “1900 Informatics” category, compiled by representatives of AGU's Earth and Space Science Informatics (ESSI) focus group, include metadata, ontologies, virtual globes, semantic technology, and virtualization.
