Use of base station antenna diversity for mobilespeed estimation
Tewfik L. Doumi, J.G. Gardiner · Electronics Letters · 1994
Knowledge of the speeds of mobiles in a radio environment is a valuable input parameter to an intelligent mobility management system for predicting handover occurrences, etc. A previously published paper reported an analysis and experimental results in the use of diversity techniques for the determination of the speed of a mobile in a nonstationary Rayleigh environment. In the Letter, the work is extended through a different approach and it is shown through various examples that the method has limitations.
