Time-Dependent Critical Damping of a Capacitor-Discharge Circuit

Optimal design of a heat-sensitive variable resistor in the circuit of a pulsed capacitor discharge provides a physically simple method of damping without the ringing currents which may shorten capacitor life. Computer simulation is utilized to determine the optimum design parameters and materials of the variable resistor.
