With the explosion in internet connectivity and the mainstream use of broadband and mobile technologies, there has been a huge increase in the number of computer systems and storage devices connected to the public network. All this leads to a great reliance on the computing infrastructure. Our critical IT installations, confidential data and intellectual property are more susceptible to cyber attack than ever before. To address these threats, various security tools such as firewalls and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPSs) are being deployed. However, due to new attack methods or developing computing environments where new vulnerabilities are being identified all the time, the security mechanism has to be updated as frequently as possible. The complete security of a system can never be achieved, but it can be enhanced. This paper proposes an architecture that provides a safe and secure environment for applications.
