Design of wavelets withoptimal correction of ringing effect

The authors address the problem of designing wavelet transforms such that the synthesis wavelet has no sidelobes. To meet this criterion, constraints on the filter coefficients search space have been derived. The resulting wavelets, when used for image compression, produce minimum ringing artefacts.
