The State University of New York is the largest publicly supported, centrally managed, diversified higher educational system in the nation. There are four university centers, thirteen liberal arts and sciences colleges, fifteen specialized institutions (such as agricultural and technical colleges, two medical schools and other specialized colleges) and 38 two-year locally sponsored community colleges. The SUNY system offers 1500 different degree programs to approximately 240,000 full-time and 130,000 part-time students.
