Another look at security definitions
Neal Koblitz, Alfred Menezes · Advances in Mathematics of Communications · 2013
We take a critical look at security models thatare often used to give 'provable security'guarantees. We pay particular attention todigital signatures, symmetric-key encryption, andleakage resilience. We find that there has beena surprising amount of uncertainty about whatthe 'right' definitions might be. Evenwhen definitions have an appealinglogical elegance and nicely reflect certainnotions of security, they fail to take intoaccount many types of attacks and do not provide a comprehensivemodel of adversarial behavior.
