Technical note. Educational image processing packages

Robin A. Vaughan · International Journal of Remote Sensing · 1991

A review is presented of a number of microcomputer-based image processing packages which have been designed for educational and training purposes. These range from simple tutorial systems designed to be run on eight-bit machines to fairly sophisticated packages which can also be used for small research or operational projects. Most of the software examined requires little or no additional hardware to a standard microcomputer. Brief details are presented of the main facilities offered in these packages, and of their cost and availability. Also discussed is the provision of low-cost digital data for such systems.
