Understanding the digital fingerprint

Digital fingerprinting – the science of identifying a user (and/or their electronic device) using pattern recognition – is advancing at a rapid pace. But the origins of digital fingerprinting as a science actually date all the way back to the early part of World War II when, in 1939, British intelligence officers were routinely eavesdropping on German radio telegraphy transmissions, dutifully noting down all the Morse code dots and dashes.
