Rehabilitation technology at the Vienna University of Technology

The "Working Group on Rehabilitation Technology" (fortec) is dedicated to do research and development to find new technical solutions for people with disabilities and elderly persons.This report gives an overview of the numerous research and technology development projects "fortec" has been involved.They all have as goal to improve the independence of persons with disabilities by technical solutions in the fields communication and orientation, safety aspects and education.Some European Union activities are described (within the Programmes "COPERNICUS", "COST" and "TIDE").The main principles of fortec are integration versus segregation and to find technical solutions together with disabled persons and not just for them. 1 Overview of Projects and Staff: 2 LEARN-ED -Remote Access to Education F.P.
