An approach to high key exchange rate quantum key distribution in optical fibres

This presentation will discuss the issues limiting key exchange rates in fibre-based quantum key distribution systems, paying particular attention to the bottleneck of single-photon detectors. The approach of using 850 nm wavelength quantum channels is discussed.
