FOILING AN EXHAUSTIVE KEY-SEARCH ATTACK

It is proposed that simple substitution, applied both before and after encipherment by the Data Encryption Standard (DES) cipher, will make that encryption safe against an exhaustive key-search attack based on the DES key.
