Influence of pre-Gaussian noise on selective ionization

L.C. De Winter, Tina L. Weeding · Physical Review A · 1990

We treat the selective ionization of one component in a two-component mixture. The ionization is modeled by a two-step process involving a pair of two-level systems. The laser field exhibits stochastic fluctuations in phase, frequency, and amplitude which are described by a pre-Gaussian model. We demonstrate the effect of the parameters of the model on ionization and selectivity. The regions where perturbation theory may be applied are discussed.
