ORTHOGONAL TRANSFORMATION TO HYPOTHESIZED FACTORS OF DIFFERENT ORDERS

F Fee · British Journal of Mathematical and Statistical Psychology · 1973

Two procedures are described for transforming an arbitrary factor matrix to accord with a target matrix which may imply higher order factors transposed to the first‐order realm. The first procedure derives a solution whose major product moment is identical with that of the arbitrary while the second procedure produces a solution which includes specific factors and reproduces the complete correlation matrix.
