Workload characterization (tutorial)
Domenico Ferrari · 1986
Workload characterization is that branch of performance evaluation which concerns itself with the measurement and modeling of the workloads to be processed by the system being evaluated. Since all performance indices of interest are workload-dependent, there is no evaluation study that does not require the characterization of one or more workloads. In spite of the importance of the problem, our knowledge in this area leaves much to be desired.
