Understanding performance metrics and their collection in dynamic virtual machines

Dynamic and distributed virtual environments are much more difficult to monitor than are individual servers. Shared resources which change according to external circumstances cause many challenges and difficulties. This paper addresses an approach to the monitoring of virtual environments. Various evaluations and experiments, a comparison with the Grid, and other available virtual solutions, are also presented.
