File directory transmission via electronic mail

A portable program to package, compress, document, transmit, and re-assemble multiple files in a B-tree directory structure is presented. The program preserves the structure, mode, protection, ownership, and integrity of all files and subdirectories. The algorithm and implementation are described in detail.
