Moving‐image enhancement on AMLCDs
Stefanos Bitzakidis · Journal of the Society for Information Display · 1995
Abstract— One of the important advantages of AMLCDs over the conventional CRT is the complete absence of large‐area flicker. This is the direct result of the temporal behavior of LCDs. LCD pixels display the information placed on them continuously during the display period. This “time persistence” is also found to be one of the reasons why moving images displayed on AMLCDs appear to suffer from speed‐dependent spatial blurring. A novel technique is proposed which compensates the video information for the speed‐dependent blurring. The technique improves the quality of moving images on AMLCDs using an appropriate spatial filtering process.
