DSTCP: An improved TCP to increase scalable TCP's friendliness and stability
Guodong Wang, Yongmao Ren, Jun Li · 2012
Scalable TCP (STCP) has greatly improved TCP's effectiveness in fast long distance networks. However, it has been widely documented that STCP has serious problems such as instability and TCP-unfriendliness. This paper proposes a solution to increase STCP's stability and TCP-friendliness without reducing its effectiveness. The improved STCP can dynamically adjust its congestion control window updating rate according to the link's congestion level, so we named it dynamic scalable TCP (DSTCP). Experimental results verify that DSTCP has improved a lot of the stability and TCP-friendliness of STCP, at the same time maintained the effectiveness in fast long distance networks.
