Artificial intelligence programming in physics

Pratap Pattnaik, G. Fletcher, John L. Fry · European Journal of Physics · 1986

The recent availability of artificial intelligence programs and LISP machines brings a completely new class of computing tools to the physicist. The authors try to provide a pedagogical introduction to this not so common class of computing by demonstrating some of the general applications of these programs, by showing one of their applications in solid-state physics research, and by suggesting other research and classroom applications.
