Technology in compact and high recording density disk storage

Runa Kaneko, Yasuhiro Koshimoto · IEEE Transactions on Magnetics · 1982

A large capacity disk storage with a high areal density of 2.4 million bit/cm2has been developed. The recording density was accomplished by using thin film media and low flying height head technologies. This paper explains the technical aspect of the disk storage.
