A statistical technique for the coefficient word-length determination in microcomputer based digital com pensators is proposed. This technique uses as design specification the variation on the system output signal when implemented with finite precision arithmetics. Two's complement fixed-point with rounding arithmetics in used. The computer-aided, microcomputer based compensator design and implementation are also presented.
