Aggregate over multi-hop homomorphic encrypted data in wireless sensor networks

Tristan Daladier Engouang, Yun Dong Liu · 2013

The importance of sensitive information carried and exchanges by wireless sensors in many applications helped develop a plethora of protocols and algorithms essentially to secure data for their aggregation in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), among which the the elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) with homomorphic properties allowing users to execute operations on encrypted metrics values. From the low battery that characterized sensors nodes and the scarce energy supplies in sensor networks, the numerous applications arising with the revolutionizing usage of wireless sensor node lead to a major conclusion, security or reliability and durability are mandatory when deploying any hardware device such as sensor nodes. In this paper, the Aggregate over Multi-Hop Homomorphic Encrypted Data (AMHED) scheme principal goal is to ensure that each sensor readings is aggregated within the WSN in a secure fashion, while fully preserving its privacy and integrity. The comparison is performed in this paper by analyzing the working principle of both ECC and RSA. Sensors readings (data) are neither forged nor compromised.
