On the performance of a class‐4 partial response digital communication system

This paper is mainly concerned with the design and implementation of a baseband digital communication system by partial response techniques. Some important performances of the class‐4 partial response system, such as the spectral distribution, eye pattern and bit error rate etc., are carefully examined via experimental data and compared to the theoretical results. Meanwhile, their difference is also discussed. The valuable experience we learned from this study is that an equalizer needs to be added to this communication system in order to make it available in practice.
