Numeric data integrity: piercing the corporate veil

You don't have to be a genius to figure out that a security compromise of a financial application has far-reaching and serious implications for the business. Aside from the direct local impact of a security breach, organisations have to consider the massive fines and sanctions issued by regulatory and legislative bodies. This article presents the requirements for the accurate processing of numeric data and examines some of the risks for failing to meet them. It is an issue that concerns anyone responsible for the security of applications that perform financial transactions – which could be retail, HR and accounting systems along with the more obvious ones like banking, trading, insurance and gambling.
