Knowledge engineering in an undergraduate mathematical sciences laboratory
John A. Glen, Leon J. Walker · International Journal of Mathematical Education in Science and Technology · 1985
For the past two years, students taking Mathematical Sciences I at Paisley College of Technology have attended a mathematical sciences laboratory, one element of which makes use of a network of microcomputers. The network, the systems and the software tools are described briefly together with an indication of the range of interactive programs. These programs have been integrated using SKIPS (Simple Knowledge and Information Processing System). The recursive nature and other features of SKIPS are described. Finally there is an appraisal of further requirements now becoming available which would improve the use of the system for the interactive transfer of expertise and allow progress towards an intelligent computer‐aided learning environment.
