County Soil Fertility Information Management System Based on Embedded GIS

Almost all existing soil fertility management information systems run on PC with a poor mobility, which can not be used directly in the fields. This paper proposed a method using the embedded GIS technology, embedded database technology and soil nutrient balance model, to develop soil fertility management information system of Jianshui County in Yunnan Province, China. This system could run on Windows mobile 6.5 phones, PDA and other smart terminal devices. Functions of the system included viewing soil fertility information, getting fertilization formula, etc. The application of the system was good, which could guide farmers to fertilize more rationally and also help governor to develop agricultural policy.
