Multicast Relay Strategies with Local and Global Power Constraints for Wireless Networks

Nima Khajehnouri, Ali H. Sayed · 2006

Cooperative diversity helps combat fading over wireless links by using relay layers. The relay nodes reduce the end-to-end path loss between a source node and a destination node by amplifying and rebroadcasting the attenuated signals. In some applications, one needs to broadcast data to multiple destination terminals. In this paper, we devise MMSE relay strategies for such scenarios and study the cases of both a desired target SNR performance and a relay network with power constrained nodes. We propose three relay strategies: one strategy enforces a target SNR at each node; another strategy limits the power consumption by each node; and a third strategy limits the power consumption by the entire network
