A Block-based Simulation Tool for the Enhancement of TCP/UDP Protocols

In this work, we have developed a functional block-based simulation model for TCP/UDP protocols, with which we can easily add, modify, and remove various parts of the functional blocks to design a new TCP based transport protocol for multimedia services. In initial experiments, several modifications on TCP, UDP, and FDDI protocols are made, and their performances, such as end-to-end delay and packet loss probability, are measured for a multimedia multiparty conferencing environment.
