A Gopher interface to relational databases

Paul F. Lindner · 1993

At the University of Minnesota we've developed sqftzoare that allozos a Gopher user to access the data in an SQL database. This piece of softzuare is called a gatezuay. In general a gatezoay translates the operations and data of one system into operations supported by a dzjkrent, incompatible system. Our gatezuay translates Gopher operations into SQL statements and the SQL results are translated into Gopher data. The gatezuay method of accessing the database simplifies the allowable operations to a limited, yet usefill subset qf the allozvable SQL queries. We've been using this software for some time nozo.We demonstrate some sample databases that the gatezuay is currently using and draw some conclusions about the softzuare.
