Shakespeare, Fletcher, and the Two Noble Kinsmen

Gerard R. Ledger · Literary and Linguistic Computing · 1994

This article shows how letter frequency measurements provide the means to discriminate between authors. The data is analysed using Cluster Analysis and other techniques of rhultivariate analysis. Texts of Shakespeare and Fletcher (and other authors) are found to differ markedly from each other. This information is used to ascertain which parts of Two Noble Kinsmen resemble Fletcher, and which resemble Shakespeare. The twenty-six scenes of the play are then allocated according to the results obtained.
