According to Moore's Law, the processing power of a microchip doubles every 18 months. According to Gilder's Law, the total bandwidth of communication systems triples every twelve months. The speed of electronics is lagging than that of the communications. One of the widely used techniques to match the speed of electronics circuits with that of the communication networks is to use serial data as compared to the parallel data. Serializer is a key block in every high speed communication interface. While the processing modules of electronic works at lower speed, the preferred mode of transmission is serial data. In the recent days, the memory blocks are being designed on SATA which is based on serial data, earlier these were based on the parallel data. Designing a high speed serializer is a challenging job. The design is completely done in CMOS taking power and area into consideration. The software's to be used are schematic editors, spice engine and waveform viewers. The design is done in 90nm TSMC technology. Jitter is an important parameter of Serializer. The lower the jitter the better the quality of the serializer. The applications of serializer are in video games, memories, general purpose transmitter.
