In the development of general system design approaches the main concern is whether the approach meets the proposed system's specifications and the ability of the system to operate for a specified period of time within those specifications. However, with the expansion in the field of sensitive and complex systems, e.g. e-health monitoring systems, a great emphasis is put on the behaviour of the system with the presence of fault (i.e. fault-tolerance). There are numerous fault-tolerant mechanisms to enhance the reliability of a real-time critical system fault masking is one of the significant techniques amid those. It is one of the key approaches to improve or maintain the normal behaviour of a system in the appearance of fault. Voting as fault masking method aims to form a single output from a set of n input data, as prescribed by the requirements of a voting algorithm. In data fusion, voting is a probable method of combining different data delivered by several sources. These sources can be sensors, as in our e-health system, whose outputs may be mistaken. This paper aims to introduce a new hybrid history based voting algorithm for our proposed smart mobile e-health monitoring system. Our proposed algorithm gives better and stable performance, in the error range expected by our system.
