A Method of Identifying the Point Target of Warship with Two Chimneys Near Sky-sea Line

Jiancun Ren, Junwei Lv · 2010

Identifying the target of warship on a sea is very important to missile guidance. However this work is usually difficult to realize, it is usually expected that a missile could detect its target in the longest distance as possible, but when a missile is far from the target of the warship, the warship often appears as some points in the infrared images acquired by the camera in the missile, on the other hand, there are many noises in these infrared images with complex sky-sea background, some of these noises exist as points in these images, so it is difficult to identify which point is a target (warship)? This paper presents a method to identify the point target of warship with two chimneys near sky-sea line. This method chooses the features as following: the gray level, area of target, the distance between the chimneys, the distance between the target and the sky-see line. By calculating the Fuzzy degree of nearness for all points in an image, the maximum Fuzzy degree of nearness for a certain point can be found, thus this point is identified as the target.
