The Winchester mystery internet

Sarah Winchester, the heiress to the Winchester Rifle fortune---the rifle that won the West---was what nowadays we'd call a little unstable. Convinced that she was being haunted by the souls of the Indians killed by the Winchester Rifle, and distraught over the death of her husband and daughter, the heiress consulted a spiritualist. She was given very specific advice: As long as Sarah Winchester continued to build the house she had recently purchased, she would never die.
