Design Research and Product Development
Rachel Cooper · The Design Journal · 1998
There has been considerable discussion over the years about what design research is. I have never believed that this was a particularly fruitful debate (although I have entered into it myself at times) - we should just get on with it. I made this point in the launch issue, hoping the journal would be a valuable outlet for design research of all kinds. This volume illustrates that this is occurring - we are publishing papers which report design research in a number of ways, with the emphasis this time on user research.
