Digital automatic gain control for software radio W-CDMA base stations

A new digital automatic gain control algorithm which can greatly reduce the gate size when implemented using a field programmable gate array is presented. The experiment with a digital IF module for W-CDMA base station showed good agreement with analysis and design rules.
