Calciclastic and Siliciclastic: GEOLOGICAL NOTES

Jules Braunstein · AAPG Bulletin · 1961

Calciclastic is suggested as an apt geologic term referring to rocks, and siliciclastic, to refer to rocks which are almost exclusively silicon-bearing, either as forms of quartz or as silicates. These new terms replace cumbersome phrases as, terrigenous detritals, or noncarbonate clastics, and allow the geologist to avoid using clastic and carbonate as antonyms.
