On the relationship between two tests for homogeneity of the marginal distributions in a two-way classification

Stuart's (1955) test of homogeneity of the marginal distributions in a two-way classification is shown to be algebraically related to a competing test proposed by Bhapkar (1966). Although asymptotically equivalent, Stuart's test statistic is found to be uniformly less than Bhapkar's test statistic.
