Bayesian Reasoning Shell for Land Management. II: Implementation

Kurt A. Buehler, Jeff R. Wright · Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering · 1991

The term shell has been used to describe high‐level applications development environments that facilitate the rapid prototyping of software elements. Shell design and construction has been simplified by the emergence of powerful compiler development tools for performing linear, hierarchical, and semantic analysis of user‐provided input scripts. This paper discusses the use of these tools in the development of an intelligent reasoning shell for performing Bayesian analysis for land‐management applications with inputs from a spatial data base (GIS) and short‐term user judgements about ambient environmental conditions. The details of shell design and implementation are discussed. The structure and function of the shell are presented in a companion paper.
