Combination of bi-directional and cooperative relaying for wireless networks
Hong Zhou · 2010
In this paper, by combining bi-direction and cooperative communication technologies, we propose some novel bi-directional cooperative relaying schemes to achieve high transmission performance for half-duplex resource-limited two-way wireless networks. We provide various detailed physical realizations of the proposed schemes taking into account various modulation, detection and diversity branch combining methods. Computer simulations confirmed that, for cooperative relaying system with one relay terminal, compared with the conventional scheme, the proposed schemes can achieve the same BER performance, but 25% higher transmission efficiency. For cooperative relaying system with two relay terminals, compared with the STBC based conventional scheme, the proposed scheme using code combining diversity solves almost all the technical problems of the conventional scheme, achieves the same or even better BER performance and much higher transmission throughput under real communication conditions, with much simpler system implementation, smaller complexity of signal processing and power consumption.
