Technique for flexible multidimensional filter design

D.A. Jenkins, D.W. Parker · Electronics Letters · 1983

This new design technique utilises one-dimensional half-band filter units arranged in a tree structure to split multidimensional frequency space into sections. These sections may be switched in or out to form an approximation to any desired frequency response. The technique has proved useful in television bandwidth reduction experiments using subsampling.
