Coding and Combinatorics

Edward F. Assmus, Harold F. Mattson · SIAM Review · 1974

This is an expository paper on some connections between coding theory and combinatorial mathematics (and number theory). A long introduction to linear codes is followed by short sections on perfect codes, t-designs, sphere packings, simple groups, lattices, and theta-functions, and projective planes.
