This Butterworths LexisNexis publication, Data Security Law and Practice, published in 2009, is a massively weighty tome (at over 1000 pages long) and is full of treasures. It serves as a chronological compendium of all of the reporting delivered during the last four years (and more) within the UK data security space and constructs a well-reasoned flow illustrating quite how far-reaching the impact of those reports has been on both the thinking inside and outside the Information Commissioner’s Office and also within and without central government and those that draft the required legislation that governs the UK. There are also a number of useful references to European and internationally relevant legislation and comparisons with both the US and Europe in relation to Data Breach notification and Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PETs).
